Vanessa Pegueros

Vanessa Pegueros’30 years of experience managing technology, security, and risk teams in a variety of verticals gives her a unique perspective as a business leader and in serving on corporate boards

She has broad experience working at a global level with start-ups as well as Fortune 500 companies. Vanessa has deep experience in governance, risk management, technology, and cyber security. She has held roles in Engineering, Sales, Product Development and Operations within Financial Services, Telecommunications, eComm and SaaS companies including Sprint, AT&T Wireless, US Bank, Expedia, DocuSign and OneLogin.

In her various roles as a CISO, Vanessa built and led teams to successfully deal with the ever-changing information security threats. At DocuSign, she led the team through a hyper growth period including the company’s IPO ensuring that the pillar of security was a key differentiator in the marketplace. Her understanding of the international regulatory environment has allowed her to lead and develop effective global security and compliance teams.

Vanessa serves on the Audit Committee of the Boeing Employee Credit Union(BECU)and is a Board Observer for Vouched.id. She formerly served on the Board and Audit Committee of Carbon Black (CBLK) where she was a part of the sale of Carbon Black to VMware. She is a past Advisory Board member for React Mobile and Cybereason (now currently valued over $1B). In addition to her public/private Board work, Vanessa has also served on the Board of the Washington Technology Industry Association, the University of Washington’s Master of Science in Information Management program and on the Board Nominating Committee at the Washington Trails Association, the nation's largest state-based hiking nonprofit organization.

Vanessa has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley, an MBA from Stanford University and a MS in Telecommunications from University of Colorado, Boulder. She has industry recognized security certifications including CISSP, CISM, GSEC, and CRISC. She also holds the Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E)certification. Vanessa lectures at the University of Washington, teaching a Master’s level class entitled, “Leading and Managing Enterprise Information Security” and is a published thought leader in the incident response area.
